A call from the universe

Just now, something inexplicable happened…I had a calling from the universe.

Having recently felt ‘awakened’ to the spiritual world and seeking it to prove itself to me, I received a sign. I know, that must sound crazy. Bear with me…

My Mum, Lisa, and I were sat around our kitchen table at home in Ealing. It is a sacred place where connecting is in the walls, and it’s here that I feel the core of life at its deepest.

My Mum had, what I thought was a crack-pot idea; having just completed a sculpture course, where she was inspired by a first-aid trainer, she said:

“Al, Deliveroo riders are in a unique position, they’re ‘on the ground’ and perfectly placed to help support with first-aid in a crisis. You should look in to that”.

“That wouldn’t happen in a million years”, I thought (said!). You are crazy’…under such scrutiny from the press and public affairs agenda for our riders and the gig-economy, I didn’t expect that we would want to implicate ourselves in that way. I dismissed it completely, joking;

“Oh yeah Mum, it’ll be our marketing slogan in 2019.” [crying-laugh emoji]

And then…

Five minutes later, I turned on my computer and up pops a notification on Workplace. It reads:

‘First Aid Training [for riders]: ‘Deliveroo look set to go above and beyond the call of duty.’

errr, hang on…

What the actual fuck??????????????

…just five minutes earlier, my Mum had (what I thought) was a totally random thought that we should do this, which I said was ridiculous.

And, then completely out of the blue, this idea comes true. Literally.

Fuck me, that’s got to be the definition of serendipity, hasn’t it? Serendipity: “is sometimes used loosely as a synonym for luck; more careful usage, particularly in science, emphasises specifically “finding something when looking for something else, thanks to an observant mind” (Wikipedia, 2018).

And, as if it couldn’t get any spookier, just 20 minutes earlier, I had been telling my Mum about a documentary. It’s called ‘What the Bleep’ and I had watched it that week. It is cringingly cheesy and old, but the principles strike true nonetheless…

In its own words it; “postulates the existence of a spiritual connection between the realms of quantum physics and consciousness.” There’s a slightly odd backstory with a photographer and flying basketballs, which kind of undermines the authority of what is actually an extraordinary concept: [it] ‘begins to consider the idea that individual and group consciousness can influence the material world’ (Wikipedia, 2018).

One of the contributors, Dr. Joe Dispenza, says the below — and I had been explaining to my mum that I had been doing this same thing for the past few days — asking the universe to show me a sign that my awakening to its power is real and true. Find ways to prove to me that the world is not just random”, I said, and that if you can connect to it, you see an existential world where it’s played out in all its beauty:

“When I create my day, and out of nowhere, little things happen that are so unexplainable, I know that they are the process or the result of my creation. And the more I do that, the more I build a neural net, in my brain, that I accept that that’s possible, gives me the power and the incentive to do it the next day.”

“So, if we’re consciously designing our destiny, if we’re consciously, from a spiritual standpoint, throwing in the idea that our thoughts can affect our reality or affect our life, because reality equals life. Then, I have this little pact that I have when I create my day.”

“I say, ‘I’m taking this time to create my day, and I’m infecting the Quantum Field. Now, if it is in fact, the observer’s [‘the universe’] watching me the whole time that I’m doing this, and there is a spiritual aspect to myself. Then, show me a sign today, that you paid attention to any one of these things that I created, and bring them in a way that I won’t expect’.”

Like I said, what the actual fuck?????

It is truly inexplicable that these two seemingly random and unconnected events happened within 5 minutes of each other, and that my Mum’s thought essentially predicted the future. I am flummoxed and in total shock to have witnessed such a clear sign that something is listening…

I have been feeling this whole ‘consciousness thing’ more and more recently, and as I become more open to it, so the universe’s synchronicity continues to show itself in weird and wonderful ways, constantly surprising me, out of nowhere. It’s like when there’s a turn of events, and you just think, “how could that have sequence of circumstances have fallen so perfectly — the stars aligned, and everything fell in to place as it should (when at times you were scared it wouldn’t)”. But then everything turned out right and better than you could have expected. And that maybe, if you trust your instinct and follow these signs, you’re on the path to the intended outcome.

How and why does that happen? I still don’t know. But I do know I’m on a journey to find out more. Watch this space…
